Wonder if this is true. https://www.mintpressnews.com/famed-war-reporter-robert-fisk-reaches-syrian-chemical-attack-site-concludes-not-gassed/240660/

Oh dear if it is.

It proves one thing though. If you go threatening world peace and putting us all at risk you need to make sure your 100% certain before you start lobbing bombs or pointing the finger and that you have the backing of the UN and various Parliaments / Congress. I hope its not true as we are going to really have egg on our faces if it is.

A fluent Arabic speaker he's a journalist of some considerable repute too having reported on Middle East matters for over 40 years and won many international press awards.

I hope we aren't going to have another Dr David Kelly 'episode'.

Not really. You can rubbish the platform if you like but not the source.

Here is Robert Fisk actually speaking about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ub5XCLfVN0

And in the Independent. https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/syria-chemical-attack-gas-douma-robert-fisk-ghouta-damascus-a8307726.html

He is a world wide respected war correspondent not someone with an agenda.

Notes: The Independent is a British online newspaper. Established in 1986 as an independent national morning newspaper published in London, it was controlled by Tony O’Reilly’s Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to*** Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev in 2010.*** Since March 2016, it is no longer printed, but is available for readers online. The Independent tends to take a classical liberal, pro-market stance on economic issues. Has a left of center editorial stance. (5/18/2016) Updated (4/26/2017)

I don't think either of the Beano boys understand the difference between 'platform' and 'source' Barry. They probably think the former is what you find at railways stations and the latter what you put on food. *-)

They talk the talk but if it came to walking the walk on the front line....they'd poo their nappies and run off.

Oh I see! The internationally respected and seven times winner of the Press Awards "Foreign reporter of the year" Robert Fisk is making it up because he is in cahoots with the Russians. Ah. It all makes sense now. When he worked on the Sunday Express and Times it was just a front I bet.

The man the New York Times described as "probably the most famous foreign correspondent in Britain" is just another Commie.

The point is, he might be wrong, he might be right but I would trust him as a reliable source more than I would trust our spooks, Government and certainly more than whatever fudge the Yanks will try and pull if it turns out it wasnt a chemical attack.

"Yet for all the awards he has garnered, and despite his rare combination of scholarly knowledge, experience and drive, Mr. Fisk has become something of a caricature of himself, railing against Israel and the United States, dismissing the work of most of his colleagues as cowering and dishonest, and seeking to expose the West's self-satisfied hypocrisy nearly to the exclusion of the pursuit of straight journalism."

I don’t believe there is enough evidence to show that Mr Fisk is in cahoots with the Russians but I wonder who those “two Syrian friends” were that accompanied him the areas he visited in Douma and why he clearly was guaranteed safe passage. Pity the OPCW haven’t yet had any access with their sampling kits. It is an Area supposedly liberated from terrorists yet United Nations Department of Safety and Security personnel who were sent in advance to ensure the safety of OPCW staff came under small arms fire and an explosive device was detonated. Mr Fisk was just wearing a shirt and a jumper - he should have at least worn a helmet and flak jacket just to be on the safe side.
