potus4388
I am planning a trip to the ROI shortly, I have a digital TV installed in my motorhome and wonder if I will be able to tune in to Freeview programmes whilst there. Does anyone have experience of this? Thank you in advance.
TeamRienza
Unlikely, the republic uses a different system to the uk, although here in Ireland you can (I think) buy a set with dual facility. The southern system is called saorview. If you are near the north of Ireland you may pick up uk freeview as it is standard UK programming as Northern Ireland is part of the U K. potus4388
Many thanks for your advice, we had better take some DVD's then :-D We will be driving up the West coast so as you say, as we get further North we may pick up UK channels, although I am hoping that we will be spending more time enjoying tbe scenery etc.
Deneb
Saorview apparently broadcasts to the mpeg4 standard. From what I understand, if you have a TV or box capable of receiving Freeview HD programming, which is also mpeg4, it should also be capable of receiving Saorview, but older SD only Freeview receivers won't work.
