Lee1st Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hi All, Anyone know of a good installer of towbars in the coastal North Essex area or thereabouts? Cheers, Lee
michele Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Lee, You mean south end ? Coastal . We used a company for the VW not the motor home and we used them again for the Volvo. But I,m not sure if they would go your way ? Where is Coastal Essex ? I will look up the details for you. get back to you ASAP.

Lee1st Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Also, it occurs to me, I don't know whether it's a different specialism, fitting a towbar to the motorhome as opposed to a car? I dunno 8-)
michele Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Lad's any taker's for this Techno question ! To much for me .... Come on Lad's & lasses . Help poor Lee out ... Is there a difference in the fitting's ?
Tony Jones Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Sorry, can't help - I'm a bit far South, and anyway my old Tranny already had a towbar when I got it. Ralph, do you know anyone? I know you're further South too, but maybe you've been around the patch a bit longer? Tony
Ralph Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I think that the point is that a towbar on a MH is a different proposition to a car. Plenty of towbar specialists about (there's one round the corner from me as a matter of fact) but I would expect to have to get a Motorhome dealer for a towbar. Try Pullingers in Halstead (well that's north Essex). They do the servicing on my MH and I can recommend them as being reliable and helpful. Don't know whether they can do this job but I bet they can point you in the right direction. 01787 472747
Lee1st Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 Cheers again people, and thanks for the number Ralph. If I can't find anything nearer I'll give them a try. It's always better to work through recommendation if poss I reckon. All the best, Lee
Tony Jones Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yes, Pullingers are good, I bought my van from there - admittedly from their "bargain basement-P/X-clearance" dept, but they couldn't have been more helpful. Hadn't thought of them in this connection, but if they do towbars, they'll do it well. Tony
Lee1st Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 Just to fill in a few blanks, I contacted Pullingers (thanks Ralph) and a helpful chap there put me in touch with another helpful chap in Colchester, 01206 576959, who Pullingers refer their "tricky" towbars to. Gonna go see him when the snow stops (next week) and get a quote. I''ll try to remember to post results so that the thread may be of use in the future. Cheers again, Lee
enodreven Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Hi, Have you tried East Coast Leisure at Baslidon they always seem very helpful, you may need to leave a message but they always ring back, their web site is http://www.east-coast-leisure.co.uk/
Ralph Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Glad to be of help Lee, if only in a roundabout sort of way. Good people at Pullingers so nice to know they were helpful to you. I didn't buy my van from them but they are Pilote Agents and have been very good. Please let us know how you get on and a rough idea of cost would perhaps be useful in case anyone else is pondering.
Ralph Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 enodreven - 2007-01-25 10:49 AM Hi, Have you tried East Coast Leisure at Baslidon they always seem very helpful, you may need to leave a message but they always ring back, their web site is http://www.east-coast-leisure.co.uk/ Even closer to home for me but Lee wanted someone in the frozen North of Essex. Not used East Coast myself but have heard good reports.
enodreven Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Hi, Ralph I have never used them for repairs etc, but i can confirm they are very competitive on their spares just purchased a spare Truma 30mb regulator for under £30 which i felt was good value Brian
michele Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Just goes to show what a nice bunch of people on here . Alway's willing to help..... Good Lad's fellow M/Homers campers and caravaners......... ;-)
Tony Jones Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Careful Michele, the fact that campers and caravanners can also be good people seems to be a big secret - you could get in a lot of trouble on here for pointing it out! Tony
Lee1st Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Well towbar's fitted by the people in Colchester. Pleasant chap, just doing up an old Hymer for himself and family to travel about in for the summer. Very substantial towbar that all works/tows well for about £415, which is about what I was told it would be and less than the highest estimates. Can recommend. Lee
