Women have long had many support groups and shelters with Erin Pizzey who championed their cause. Male rape/abuse is less known about because many men feel unable, or unwilling, to talk about it. Erin Pizzey has made huge inroads into that aspect since finding the levels of dv/abuse is often perpetrated by women. She made huge sacrifices, including death threats from third wave rad fems when she spoke out about it. Child rape is almost on a par with male rape in that it's often within families (not always) so kept well hidden.....eg, a well known Scottish comedian was raped and abused by his father when a child. Any police officer will tell you a rape allegation is among the most difficult to secure a safe conviction, not helped by the number of wrongful allegations we've had along with ND (non-disclosure) which pretty much ends and chance of a 'safe' conviction.
