aandy
Does anyone know whether Calor (propane) deteriorates with age? I have one Gaslow cylinder with a 6kg Calor as back-up, but after five years have never had to use it. There's no mention on Calor's website, and Google came up with nothing useful. It seems unlikely, but then I'd have said the same about petrol until a few years ago.
Steve928
Although we have refillables on the van, on the boat I refill the 3.9kg propane bottles from a donor 47kg bottle. As we don't use much gas (only for cooking) the donor bottle must now be 10+ years old and I haven't noticed any deterioration - it seems as good as at day #1. Derek Uzzell
A GOGLE-search on “propane gas deterioration” suggests that propane stored in a gas-bottle may be considered to have an indefinite shelf-life. As it says in the following link https://www.elgas.com.au/blog/1995-does-lpg-propane-go-bad-shelf-life-diesel-petrol-shelf-life "The only limitation on using LPG is the durability of the container – gas bottles, cylinders or tanks." aandy
Thanks chaps. One less thing to worry about. The 30 years mentioned in the link should see me out.
