Vixter Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 There comes a time in many a girl’s life When birthdays cause looks to regress She prefers not to have them… She often won’t want them… But up they pop nevertheless (The solution is simple And not really sinful Just don’t tell them, they never will guess!) So on Burn’s night, the Scots all eat haggis And raise a wee dram to the bard But for me, Jan twenty-fifth Date of birth? NO – a myth! “I deny!” (and it’s not very hard) Then along comes the well-meaning hubby And spoils my despicable plan Goes public with my secret birthday (Now, isn’t that JUST LIKE a man?) The compliments I have had lately From forum pals near and so far Will fade and decay Like a birthday bouquet Left too long to dry out in the jar I recall once a birthday was super A chance to have gifts and a feast But now as you see That the girl that was me Is now old, on the outside at least But inside I’m still young and so silly (I hope you don’t think me a bore) But I refuse to grow up Like some dizzy young pup Still a teenager, through to the core! So now I must thank all the new friends I have met through the forum “yack-yack” For their kind birthday wishes And party-type dishes (Thank you Ralph, for the Indian snack) CHEERS OLD FRIENDS! (Yes, I really DID say that, ‘Cos I feel that I’ve known you for years) You have taken the time To assemble some rhyme Nice to know you, my virtual dears!
Ralph Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 That's great Vicki! Puts all of our efforts in the shade. I hope you had a good day.
flicka Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Belated congrats Vixter. Live it like para 6 and the years just do not matter, but you can still celebrate Birthday's. With age comes the wisdom to enjoy and appreciate the experience. We are all capable of getting a little silly occasionally. Flicka
