They told me there wasn't anything they could do because I'd booked through C&CC but did suggest I cancel the whole booking and make a new one in my son's name. The upshot would have been an extra cost of £224. So this morning I phoned the C&CC and they couldn't have been more sympathetic and helpful. Explained it was a medical reason and the lady there said she'd phone P&O and call me back but anticipated a £60 fee When she called back she said she'd done it and taken me off the outbound trip but kept me on the return and due to being beyond my control, between them both (P&O and C&CC) they'd agreed to waive the amendment fee. She also told me that if it turned out I wasn't going to be travelling and thus wouldn't need the return trip either, to just phone them and they'd take me off that leg too.
