Guest Geoff Harwood Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Any recommendations for sat nav? I require a model which is self contained and can be used in a vehicle, on a bike or on foot (able to show footpaths etc. Batteries need to be rechargeable. Colour screen.Switchable voice prompts would be useful.

Guest Bill Ord Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Hi I use CoPilot. Reasonably priced and very accurate. Only problem I've found and I'm still trying to resolve is it will not avoid toll roads on the continent even when the avoid box is checked. Does every thing else well even down to city walks and will bring you home if like me you can get lost on your mountain bike. Bill Ord
Guest Paul Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 My suggestion would be Navman PiN 100 or PiN 300. Same family as CoPilot, they all use Mitac Mio 168 Digiwalker for hardware, but particularly the PiN 300 using Smart ST V3 is exceptional. I use mine all the time, have used Garmin Street Pilot and Tom Tom 5 on PDA, but I beleive the Navman to be superior and better value. I have not had any problems avoiding toll roads.
