Sedgewood
I have a Rapido 2004 Ducato based m/h, the fitted JVC radio has a mind of its own and has silly graphics etc. I would like to install the simple to use OE radio but just wanted to know the difference between series 2 [2002-2006] radios and the later models also if they will fit. Any help appreciated.
Derek Uzzell
This 2006 MHFacts discussion related to fitting a radio (coincidentally a JVC model) into a 2004 Ducato. https://forums.motorhomefacts.com/49-tech-mech-chat/10466-wiring-radio-cd-2004-fiat-ducato-help.html Historically Rapido has not fitted OE radios (eg. Fiat -supplied units) to their motorhomes. The options when ordering have been either to have no radio (leaving the buyer to choose what radio should be fitted after having taken delivery of the motorhome) or a specific radio from the Rapido options list (Pioneer units for several years and now Kenwood units). Presumably your JVC radio is a single-DIN type, as shown on these links https://speakerchampion.com/best-single-din-head-unit/ Some of these units nowadays are remarkably sophisticated (and not cheap) but even quite inexpensive modern radios have plenty of features. (examples here) https://tinyurl.com/r96od25 https://www.carbibles.com/best-single-din-car-stereo/#5_Kenwood_Single_DIN_Car_Stereo In principle any currently-marketed single-DIN radio should be a straightforward replacement for your JVC head-unit as far as fitting it into the dashboard is concerned, but you might need to modify the existing wiring to connect it up. Alanb
Brian, My 2006 x244 PVC is fitted with a JVC KD-G162, radio/CD unit. The model number which is not immediately obvious. is below the On/Off button. I agree that once disturbed, the prefered settings are difficult to recover without consulting the instruction manual. If your radio is either a GD-162, or a GD-161, the appropriate JVC manual has the reference GET0334-003A. If you do not have the manual, an internet search with this code returns several sites offering downloads, at least some of which are in PDF format. Alan As this, when I put a new battery on the JVC went into some stupid 'showy' mode, took some time to work out how to get it back to 'plain' display.
