weldted
Heat pumps are not very effective if it's really cold
weldted
Most air-con units heat by reversing the cooling process, to produce heat they have to get rid of the cold and cannot do so below a certain temp.
mids
Hi thanks for that.just found something in the manual about not working below a certain temperature. Will try again when it warms up!!
colin
Won't it be great when every house is forced to use heat pumps by government legislation.
davidmac
Hi, heater that doesn’t work when it’s cold? must come from the people who used to make chocolate teapots and motorbike ashtrays . Regards David
mids
It's not a heater it's a air conditioning unit but should blow hot air as well . On heater mode.
Clive_Adams
As previously stated its probably outwit the temperature parameters, see quote from Truma instructions below: "Heating at an outside temperature of less than 4 °C is not possible because heating performance falls considerably. Between 4 °C and 7 °C the device switches briefly to defrosting processes. At above 7 °C there are no restrictions on heating mode."
colin
Whilst the unit claims to have a heat output of 1.7kw the operating limits for the unit are +4c minimum.
weldted
It's the process of turning liquid to vapour and back to a liquid. If you compress vapour to a liquid you generate heat which has to be expelled usually assisted by a fan or heat exchanger but when liquid is returned to vapour it creates a sharp drop in temperature as in cooling mode. But when in heating mode the opposite occurs and you have to get rid of the cold created not easy if the outside temp is low.
