Wortho
As we store our van in Sweden I try to leave as little in the adblue tank as possible as its supposed to freeze at around -11c. We store the van for 8 months at a time and this is the 3rd year and no issues so far!
Derek Uzzell
witzend - 2020-02-03 4:19 PM For off road vehicles with adblue which are not legally required to use it there are firms offering to reprogram ECU's so as its not required A few years ago I read an article in a French newspaper claiming that a large percentage of diesel-fuelled heavy lorries registered in Eastern European countries and with motors designed to need AdBlue to comply with the motors’ stated Euro emissions standard had been fitted with an inexpensive internet-available ‘black box’ that overrode the AdBlue system. A heavy truck’s motor designed to use AdBlue will drink a lot of the stuff over the high mileages that trucks cover and removing the AdBlue requirement meant that those trucks cost less to run and consequently made them unfairly competitive with ‘unmodified’ French trucks. There are firms offering to ‘interfere’ with a vehicle’s AdBlue system but - as the their adverts suggest - completely removing the need for AdBlue on a vehicle designed to require it will be illegal if that vehicle is to be driven on public roads. (Examples here.) http://www.ecuflash.co/adblue-removal/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuMXG6Ky85wIVQ5nVCh31JAApEAAYASAAEgIgIfD_BwE https://www.topgear-tuning.com/services/adblue-removal/ In 2014, when it looked like Fiat Ducatos would require AdBlue to meet the first Euro 6 standard, there was a long French motorhome magazine article that advised motorcaravanners to avoid ‘topping up’ the AdBlue tank and only add AdBlue when it was actually needed. This was to minimise the potential degradation of the AdBlue liquid.
