Hi, just wondering what trips the forum folk are planning this year I must admit our trip Morocco (April) thanks to information found on the forum with desert detours (May) Spain thanks to Don Madge for information on routes and sites, (June) France thanks to information on aires and sites picked up of the forum, so thank you all for information re routes, Lap-top wfi (was a mystery to me) and all the rest of the excellent information I have picked up on the way, thanks to the forum we feel a lot more confident on our first big trip our retirement has allowed us. It would be interesting to see where your motorhome is taking you. Carol.

Freddy Van won't be taking us anywhere as exotic as your trips due to work getting in the way. We will however have a week in Scotland in June, a week in Ireland (courtesy of Tesco clubcard) and several long weekends.

Enjoy your trips wherever you all get to.

God! I wish I had your time! My life doesn't allow me to get away for more than three or four weeks at a time in summer and maybe odd weeks in Spring and Autumn depending on the old social calendar.

I'm envious in one way as I'd love a two or three month trip but I'm also grateful I suppose that my life is so full with my other hobbies.

OK, since you asked ...

Hannibal (summertime-only Transit hi-top) will go back on the road sometime in May, and we'll take a few days at Spring Bank hol, including my sister's birthday/housewarming bash in Oxfordshire (does the street outside her house count as "wild-camping?").

Then hopefully a few Friday nights away during term time (Liz works in a school, and I don't get many full weekends in my job, but I do usually take Sat as my day off).

We've booked a ferry for 18 days in summer, planning to spend some time in Alsace/Lorraine, which we've not really explored before. Then we're back for a couple of days before going on a week-long camp/conference/holiday at Warwick with a crowd from church (doesn't count towards my holiday entitlement!).

We may get some more Friday nights later in the year, before it gets too cold to sleep in Hannibal & we put the Escort back on the road instead (we only tax & ins one at a time, unless you count Baby, my 39-yr-old Mini).

Hi Frank, thanks for your reply, yes it is a good trip but not because we have nothing better to do we have spent the last 30 years running two business always having to make sure everything was ok before having even one week away, then for the past 3 years looking after my mother with Alzheimers, and yes we have lots to do at home, but lots of good friends and family to keep a eye on things, so no need to worry that we are short of something to do, just love travelling and glad to have the time and our health to do it. We took the 'van down to the Côte Vermeille in January and have left it there for a few weeks. We fly back in three weeks time to pick it up again. We will spend a few weeks in that area (our favourite corner of France). When it gets too hot we will wend our way back North, probably finishing up in Brittany for a week or so, returning home mid June, for grandparenting duties over the school holidays. Then, early in September its off to Venice, via the Haute Savoie. On the return we will spend more time in France (like Michelle, we keep being drawn back there) and return late November/early December.

Guest bil h

As many steam ralies as possible plus several other rallies and vehicle events probably totaling 20 in all, at farms, CL's, river sides, rally sites and the odd field or two from Scotland to Dorset.

Dont want the continent any more, most of the time is used up driving round it. Its very interesting of course but one needs to live in it to understand its ways.

Hi carol

We are also off to Morocco - trip with Desert Detours leaving about 7/4 - is that the trip you are on?

As to rest of year, not long back from 10 days skiing, off to holland or denmark for a week end of June then Dolomites end August early sept (passed through last year and need to go back for a longer stay) + a couple of shorter trips late in year - went to Bruge xmas market last year so will try another one this year - perhaps Lille?

Not enough time and too many places to visit. Whenever MMM arrives home i start looking at the foreign trips so i now have a wish list for when i finally retire in about three years.

Wish list for which i am saving hard includes 5 months in the states (from last months), trip round Iceland, and up to North Cape (or as close as i can get) in Norway.

Its good to dream.

Peter

Going to Devon for a couple of days middle of next week, Ashbourne at Easter, Peterborough for the show end of next month and then all the rest of the Warners shows till September when we finish off with York. Trying to sort out a rally site near Ludlow (for another forum) for the September food festival. Probably get a couple of weekends away in between but unlikely to go further than our favourite hideaway site in South Shropshire.

Nothing exotic for us. Work keeps getting in the way.

Most Sundays we go off for the afternoon with friends, we are walking the Leeds & Liverpol canal from end to end at the moment, usually have tea in the bus parked with a good view.

May and July will see us on the North York Moors on various CLs, we are going to walk the eastern half of the Coast to Coast path (Keld to Robin Hoods Bay); we did the western half last year. Then carry on with the Cleveland Way which we started last year.

Probably take in a few dance weekends, but that is more like a working holiday.

Drive safe, enjoy.

Forgot that bit when I posted my contrib above - we're going to Canterbury for the Tour stage too. Remember a thread I started a while ago about overnighting there?

I've arranged a Sunday off specially - it's not only "sinners" who have to work - happens to "saints" (????) as well!

Maybe see you there Peter - what's your wagon look like?
