Derek Uzzell
The ‘normal' installation for the starter-battery of a Ducato X250/X290 is as shown in the attached photo, with all the cables tidily located. I’m aware from your first forum posting in early 2019 https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Campervan-vehicle-battery/51315/ that you bought your Apache 700 secondhand in 2018, so the likelihood is that the ’spare’ cable was added by a previous owner. It might allow a separate battery charger (or perhaps a small solar panel) to be connected easily to the battery or be there for some other reason. (My Rapido’s starter-battery has ‘extra’ cabling that I installed myself to permit easy attachment of a separate battery charger.) If everything works and you can’t identify why the cable is there (if you provide a photo here that might help) leave the cable disconnected. (If the cable is connected to the battery’s positive (‘live’) terminal do make sure that the cable’s unconnected end is PROPERLY INSULATED!!)
