howie
And finally a solution (I hope). Had the bearings at the top of o/s/f shock absorber replaced today after they started to make a faint grinding noise. Not only has this stopped the vibration but cured what can only be described as a very slight abnormality to the steering characteristics. You know what I mean, something not quite right but you can,t put your finger on it. Neither problem felt that serious, but as i.ve already said anything to do with steering brakes or wheels is always a cause of some concern to me. The garage told me that they felt the design re. the bearings left them open to dirt and muck thrown up from the road and mine was not the first they had replaced, so if anyone experiences the same problem it might help if this possible cause goes on any checklist.
