There's 147 other countries out there to do business with.

.

.... and how far have we got with them in 4 1/2 years *-)

The EU is the worlds biggest trading bloc - by a mile

Why would any of those countries be more keen to do a deal with BoJo than the EU?

(Especially now he has shown he is not to be trusted as he was prepared to renege on a deal he signed less than a year ago)

It certainly is the worlds biggest trading bloc. I bet lots of countries would like to be trading with it and sending goods to Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Malta, Cyprus .... you get my drift? *-) Neverthe less, it IS the worlds biggest.

And what about the UK? Could it be part of a new (non federal, just trading) bloc, with free movement of people? What if Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK formed a bloc? And what if it allowed other countries to join that bloc? It might not be long before countries like Germany decided to jump ship. :D After all, they have always had a low regard for their immediate neighbours.

Try googling CANZUK and see what pops up. ;-)

LOL! CANZUK is tiny compared to the EU and they are all on the other side of the world. Its a bit like living on top of Camden Market and deciding to do your shopping in a small village in Cumbria.

You could say though that it might grow like the Eu did. Perhaps other countries will join it. Maybe even 27 and there would be Parliament just like there is now in the Eu and there would be something called a single market and even a customs union. Could be great but then I have to ask. What was the point of leaving the EU only to go and replicate it with countries on the other side of the planet? 8-)

The world is full of trading blocs now and single markets etc and with them comes rules, freedom of movement etc and some loss of sovereignty. What makes you think CANZuK would be any different down the line?

You mean like your joke about electric cars not being built in the UK for the EU market?

According to BBC News reports that has been discussed and allowed to happen. The amount of non EU parts has been widened to accommodate UK car makers.

"There is some fascinating stuff in the detail of this agreement. It is not the end of Brexit - it is a truce until 2026.

The 2026 'review' of the agreement is going to be like Brexit all over again - woo hoo!

The agreement has been expressly devised to be easily 'supplemented' by other EU-UK agreements that will be subject to it. It is, in effect, a five year framework agreement, which will roll-over automatically to the next five year review, unless terminated on one year's notice. The agreement has been expressly devised to be easily 'supplemented' by other EU-UK agreements that will be subject to it. It is, in effect, a five year framework agreement, which will roll-over automatically to the next five year review, unless terminated on one year's notice.

Why five years?

Well

In a great triumph for UK 'taking back control', the proposed five year review cycle fits neatly with...

...the terms of the European Commission, the European Parliament and even the presidency of the European Council

This is hilarious.

So the UK only gets the formal right to review the agreement every five years, set to the convenience of the EU five year terms."*

Not surprised that ERG is troubled as to what to do.

If you read the document, there is just enough settled to keep trade in manufactured goods and food stuffs going post 1/1/20, after that their are reams of stuff still to be settled. The trade deal is far from finalised, that looks to be months if not years in the future.

Oh it's not every five years, this is the new institutional infrastructure set up by the treaty. New Partnership Council, 19 specialised committees, 4 working groups. Each committee meets at least once a year. So, at least 21 new meetings between Britain and the EU every year. This excludes the institutional structures under the Withdrawal Agreement and the Northern Ireland Protocol.

If you read the document, there is just enough settled to keep trade in manufactured goods and food stuffs going post 1/1/20, after that their are reams of stuff still to be settled. The trade deal is far from finalised, that looks to be months if not years in the future.

Yep in 5 years time we can have another bitchfest :D .........

I dont doubt our Losers hope is that Brexit Blighty will be on its uppers and begging to rejoin *-) .........

I very much doubt it seeing as the world will spend the next 5 years getting over Chinky Flu ;-) ........

Like Boris....My Mystic Gut predicts Brexit Blighty unshackled by the EU will be agile enough to prosper mightily as we head towards our sunlit uplands B-) ..........

Unlike the EU who will still be struggling to climb out of the world recession caused by China :-| ........

Would you bet against my Mystic Gut?...........Seeing as its always been on the winning side :D .......

So what? ;-) ..........

LMFAO.....you voted to leave the EU but your Dear Leaders 'deal' actually ties you to far more than you ever were before. The hilarious part about it is you still can't see it because you're obsessed with trotting out four year old silly soundbites. *-)

Great news, as from 1st January the UK is no longer covered by the EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive. So there is the only win from Brexit and what it was really all about.
