The bulk of our railways are owned by French, German and Dutch companies. If they decide to get awkward we are mere spectators living in hope. What would have been 'genius' (though something of a miracle) is if UK had bought back everything they'd sold off to foreign companies....like "taking back control" ;-)

Except we will end up bailing them out, either by loan or equity stake as it will be deemed a important part of national infrastructure. So yet again we sell off an asset, let the shareholders take all the dividends during the good years and then let the taxpayer take on the losses. See also railways, banks/building societies, BHS pensions etc.
jumpstart Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 You fret too much....the next Labour government will just Nationalise it.
