Bulletguy
When pubs reopen apparently they're going to drop the 10pm curfew and allow people to drink outside. Also the rule of a 'substantial meal' will be dropped so I suppose pubs selling bags of peanuts will qualify now. Surely there are more important businesses than pubs? :-| https://tinyurl.com/rwqf8oou

John52
Sad fact is the High Street & Pub / Casual Dining Sector was already in crisis before Covid We have too many of them :-(
jumpstart
Bullet is still thinking...... Most shops on the high street were struggling before Covid. There are/were many well run pubs serving good ale and good food.

No he's not......it was a question to all fm's (note the question mark at the end of sentence) but nobody came up with anything. Personally myself I don't see them as particularly important or necessary and think it's one of the last places they should consider opening up. Lockdown four here we come. Barryd999
The impression I got on the lunchtime news is this is the final lockdown no matter what. It seems what happens next is "Irreversible" which was the term used by Johnson. So I guess its business as usual and hope that the vaccines work. I cant say Ive missed the pub. Least not in the UK. I hardly ever went apart from the odd Christmas booze up back in my home town. I also think they were in trouble long before this so I guess they will thin out and whats left may do well. I like to go out for a drink in Europe though, especially France. Nothing better on a barmy sunny evening in Provence and a dammed sight cheaper than the UK! True Amsterdam is a small trading market which makes it all the more shocking.....that it's overtaken London in share trading. London is/WAS massive. Finance has also gone elsewhere, 900 billion to Frankfurt alone. It's yet more business which has been lost since Brexit and you're going to have to start digging deeper in your pockets as the treasury has lost billions in taxes. If it was left to me Brexiteers should suffer and foot the entire cost as it was caused by their foolishness, and Rejoiners given 100% tax relief. Small *-) People outside finance will think it doesn't affect them *-) But it was a valuable export providing much needed foreign currency, and well paid jobs. So we had people paying lots of tax instead of drawing benefits Not illusory GDP arising from inflated property prices Maybe people will wake up when the Government comes after them to make up the shortfall.
