We have a Fiat Ducato motorhome LH drive but UK registered in 2006. A friend has pointed out that a different Licence class may be needed so I need some help decoding our VIN plate and hope someone may be able to help. This is what it says:

FIAT AUTO S.P.A.

DGM......

ZFA..........

3000kg

4600kg

1- 1600kg

2- 1650kg

MOTORE RHV

VERSION 244AAMCB AXC

1.52

It depends what you mean by licence class – I assume you mean driving licence?

From your VIN,

Gross vehicle weight 3,000 kg – drive on a standard licence

Gross train weight (combined maximum allowable mass of the vehicle and trailer) 4,600 kg

The other two weights are the max for front and rear axels.

It has a MAM {MGW } of 3000kg so can be driven on a standard car B licence.

If you were to take advantage of its MTW [ Vehicle plus trailer] you would require B+E. [On a standard B licence the maximum train weight allowed is 3500kg although it is complicated by when the driving test was passed ]
