breakaleg
Hi All, I am considering buying a new sat nav as the one that's fitted to the Nuevo isn't great, I was thinking of the above as it has a 7 inch screen. I have used tom tom in the past but recon they would be much alike. Anybody using one? any good? Pete
Derek Uzzell
The Avtex Tourer Two sat-nav is a Garmin product - so if you are accustomed to TomTom sat-navs you'd need to adjust to the Avtex device's Garmin functionality. It was discussed here in mid-2020 https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Sat-Nav-Renewal/55230/
breakaleg
Morning Derek, Thanks for the link, it seems that the differences are about the same Garmin v Tomtom, its the 7 inch screen that appeals to me, I will read the other thread latter on. I guess that adding your own poi is possible as well. Pete
Derek Uzzell
There's an Owner's Manual covering the Avtex Tourer Two device here https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/rv780/EN-GB/GUID-E1EA9CD5-763C-4708-A40A-56D1115AF2F5-homepage.html Regarding adding POIs, this thread mentions that it's straightforward to do https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/screennamef98b74d17e/avtex-tourer-two-sat-nav/ and this YouTube video describes the procedure A GOOGLE-search on "motorhome sat-navs" will retrieve links to several websites offering advice (example here) https://www.wandering-bird.com/best-motorhome-sat-nav/ The current crop goes up to a 10" display-screen size (Garmin Camper 1090) with the price ranging from under £80 to over £500. Having not owned a motorhome longer than 6.5m or higher than 2.75m, the ability to enter vehicle dimensions has never attracted me, nor have I been interested in having campsite locations preloaded or in adding POI files. As my 1st sat-nav was a Garmin device, I've stayed loyal to Garmin products subsequently and these have proved reliable. My current (but now quite old) Garmin nuvi 2559LM has a 5" screen; this is OK when used in our car, but a larger screen (say 7") would have been better for motorhome usage. stevec176
Have just purchased a Garmin Camper 780 MT-S for £250 from Garmin. Have only used it for a short test run but display was clear and readable.
breakaleg
Thank you Derek, That is very comprehensive and must have taken you a while to put together. From what I have seen it is very similar to operate as the tomtom, it looks like putting your own poi's on is perhaps quicker and easier than tomtom. Much appreciated. breakaleg
Thanks Steve, I tried using a 10 inch tablet and google maps in the van holder, that was a little to close to use and the audio was poor. Pete
