p&O fantastic service

We drove down to Folkestone this morning to collect the AHC paperwork for our 2cavaliers and that worked perfectly then, as I'd hinted on another thread thought I'd see if we kuldip get on the ferry early. There was no and I really do mean no, traffic or queues at Dover. None at all. Anyway we got to check in, no one ahead or behind us for P&O but big qu is for dfds. At the check in the incredibly helpful girl mad ba couppl o calls and then gave me the news. Because wee h the at 1:30 And our booked ferry was for 09:00 e next day, there,s normally a change charge of £80 but 'cos we were so nice she said we could change fo free and he put us on the 4pm sailing. Drive to lane 207 and wait there.

We got to the lane and a mRshalle came over and said if WWE want go now, on the 2pm sailing, drive straight on. We were last on among mainly trucks.

A new thing for us you can take dogs on to deck 8, straight up in the lift, to a dedicated pet lounge and we were the only ones there. Staff were very helpful and the snack bar type food was ok and good prices.

Then came the really excellent bit.

A tannoy announcement called me t o the info booth to be told we'd left our passports in the check in booth but not to worry, they'd be hand delivered on the 4pm sailing. And they were. All the French staff knew what had happened and we were escorted too their port office and looked after really well.

We can't speak highly enough of them all, both the new hires and the French. Brilliant.

Next time we do Dover Calais, guess who we'll use.

I will be coming back Calais/ Dover on a couple of weeks. P&O won't be on my list of possibles! I live local to Folkestone and Dover and what P&O did to their staff is still very raw hereabouts.

Difficult to unsee the clip of their CEO saying he purposely broke the law and sacked all those staff.

I am not going to put one jot in his pocket!

In thousands of foreign trips I have never had to ask for my passport back - its always been given back without asking.

Same here

It gets even worse when you see the human rights record of his owners

Wheras Denmark (owners of DFDS) is a lovely country at the other end of the scale.

So I can see why people would rather go with them

To be sure of obtaining that same level of service, then book up for a crossing asap, because as soon as PandO think their bookings numbers and public persona have reached pre 'sackings' levels, the strain of maintaining their new found sycophantic ways will be wearing thin, and then they'll regress to normality. Give it a year I'd estimate!

Any ferry company other than P&O who failed to give you back your passports after checking in?

They were too busy handing out freebies to the op "'cos we were so nice". ;-)

Not forgetting MP Natalie Elphicke.

I can't agree more never will I use P&O again and I can't understand when there's a choice how anyone would use them

We have booked our ferry home with DFDS £132 on Friday evening. Could have booked for £99.70 with P&O.

As a friend said, £32 is about 5 beers or a couple of strawberries at Wimbledon so Game set and match to DFDS!

It needs everyone to boycot theses fatherless sons to bring them to their knees!

I always used P&O and was very happy with both price and service, but following their disgraceful behaviour a few months back never again. Despite having sufficient Tesco vouchers for a free crossing, I came to France with DFDS and will return the same way. However good their service might be, nothing would induce me to support so disreputable a company.

I only hope the discount code I received in a email earlier today is evidence that they are feeling the consequences of their actions.
