Now on the boat from Portsmouth to Caen and thought I'd check the latest diesel prices on https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/actualites/

I thought they were much lower than yesterday and then noticed a banner saying:- 31-08-2022 : À compter du 1er septembre 2022, vous bénéficiez d'une remise de 30ct d'€ par litre prise en charge par l'État - Aide exceptionnelle à l'acquisition de carburant

So the previous 18c per litre rebate has been increased to 30c

Happy days!!

Yes, we’re currently in France, and the weird thing is that about 10 days ago prices were as low as €1.77, got here Sunday to find they were way up (€1.95+) but yesterday the government website was showing prices as low as €1.63.

Anyone know if the government support had lapsed for a few days?

It seems only a few garages are doing this! Went to a Total in Cholet showing 1.58€ but no diesel left.

There's two L'Clercs in Cholet. The one showing the cheap price (1.66€) was sold out and we ended up at the other one at 1.74€

On the way out of the city there was another garage at 1.66€ with a massive queue!
