Ceramic paint protection, is it worth it?

I have the option of getting this on a new motorhome but the 'net says it lasts 2-5 years , sometimes longer,  but also needs maintaining.

Is is better to just wash and wax regularly? I've read good and bad and now can't decide! Thanks, Dave

I once had it done on a new car but without having a similar untreated car to compare it with as the years pass I can't be sure, but my perception was, and remains, that this is an expensive con used by dealers to extract money from customers.

You can buy the materials and do it yourself or you can find a local bodyshop or valeter who will apply it for a lot less cost than the dealer charges.

It makes no difference to the trade in value - just having the car very detailed clean and looking it's best seems to do the job and chances are whatever you have done the next selling dealer will charge the next buyer for repeating it!

On balnce I won't bother again - others may of course have a different view!

I can't speak for what it would be like on a motorhome but my current car, which is just over six years old, had such a finish and I have to say that it has kept the paintwork in pretty good condition and generally only needs a quick wash over to keep it looking good. I think a motorhome is a different proposition. I don't have much difficulty keeping the cab, side and rear in reasonable condition but the roof ( the hardest to clean) I find difficult to remove road grime and perhaps a sealed finish on the roof might be a good investment? Whether you have it done before delivery or use one of the specialist motorhome valeters to do it later I am not sure?
