Hal and Mag
Hi, I'm travelling to Italy via France and need some info on emissions stickers. I have a crit'air for France but do I need one for Italy? My understanding is only the Bolzano region requires this. We are going to Lesa, Dormelleto on Lake Magiorre
mtravel
For now, Italy does not provide stickers. There are some towns (like you say Bolzano but also Milan for example) that have established environmental zones. Others have restricted access areas to avoid traffic congestion. Typically these are off-limits for everyone except residents or delivery, others require the payment of an entrance ticket upon registration of the vehicle. Whether they are low-emission or congestion, in Italy they are called ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato = Limited Traffic Areas). Just pay attention to the signs with this acronym and do not go beyond them. But they are off your itinerary. With the exception of Arona (between Lesa and Dormelletto). Don't enter the town and overtake it staying on SS33 national road. If you put the itinerary from Lesa to Dormelletto in Maps you will see that it bypasses the town. Brian Kirby
Also Turin. May have changed, but entry was dependent on being to prove the emissions level of your vehicle. As CO2 emissions are not shown on Certificates of Conformity for UK registered vehicles (for VED reasons) this is not straightforward. Best to go round. onecal
Hi Times are a changing , so best to drive around them if possible, We have many reports on Campsites in Italy of motor homers told not to leave their engine ticking over for any length of time Regards

onecal
Not so sure to be honest if it is reasonable or not , Especially when maybe just checking that the drain valve are closed after draining or doing a walkaround checking all is ok before pulling out of a campsite Sometimes maybe it's a little bit overboard Regards
Hal and Mag
Thank you all for your responses. I tend to stay away from cities, I think the only possible issue is Arona but from what I can see the emission control is winter months only? Well I'll just avoid it anyway. 🙂

Motorhoming since 1987. Never needed neither to drain nor to check drain valve before leaving a site. Buy one start-stop engine and stop needless polution.
