Wessie
I've read on here ( but can't find it on search) that a new Lpg tank doesn't read accurately, how long am I supposed to wait till it drops, or do i top it up when I suspect it's getting low? Thankyou, Dave
Grumpyman
I would top it up between half and a quarter full.
david lloyd
Not sure it’s necessarily a ‘new’ tank that is the problem Dave, often the horizontal tank is not rotated to the correct alignment and consequently this affects the internal float that gives the reading. Had a brand new PVC once that also had a problem with the filler not allowing the lpg to flow in (turned out to be some swarf causing a blockage) but while it was in Autogas 2000 at Thirsk they pointed out that the tank alignment was quite a way out and corrected it for me. Wessie
Thanks for the replies, I'll see how it goes when I top it up but I'll definitely bear that in mind, thankyou
AndyLou
One of the beauties of a refillable system is that you can top up. I would recommend keeping an eye on your usage and just top up when you can. A weekend of fridge, cooker & heating seems to use about 4 litres in our van.
Zydeco Joe
We have a under floor tank and the gauge is not great so we try to top up the tank as somebody else has posted at half and a quarter full but mainly when we see gas a a good price , the best of a large 55 Lt tank from Autogas 2000 at Thirsk allows us to do that. onecal
Hi Ok are we talking about the Gauge itself on the tank ? or the remote electrical gauge ? Often a short drive on a bumpy road gets the tank gauge reading correctly as does the electric one if fitted when left turn on Always do this run on a bumpy road before topping up Tank alignment is very important for it also to work correctly Regards
