Accessing old format thread links

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is there a way to access older threads, or convert to the new format, when the referring link is given in the old format

eg http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19200&posts=14  .

You will, of course, know the current format is

Older material using the older format can be found via Search but direct referring links return:

Sorry! The page you requested does not exist.  Error code: 1S160/2.

Regards

I don't recall coming up against this issue myself and I can side-step it using GOOGLE Advanced Search. However, I believe the simple answer to your question is No - or at least not within the Out&AboutLive forums' own capabilities.

Hi,

It seems you're having trouble accessing older threads due to the change in forum formats. Unfortunately, the direct links from the old format may not automatically redirect to the new format, and you’re encountering a “page not found” error.

Here’s what you can try:

Use the Forum’s Search Function: As you mentioned, you can use the search feature on the forum to locate the thread by keywords or topic titles.

Manual Navigation: Try to manually navigate the forum categories to find the thread. You may be able to locate it by browsing through related topics or categories.

Contact Forum Support: Reach out to the forum’s support team or administrators. They might be able to assist you in accessing older threads or provide a method to convert or locate threads from the old format.

Archive Services: Sometimes, archived versions of websites or forums can be accessed through services like the Wayback Machine, which may have snapshots of the forum from when it used the old format.

If none of these options work, contacting the forum’s support for more specific guidance would be the best approach.

This Out&AboutLive sub-forum is intended to be used only by forum staff (Administrators) to provide important messages for forum users, If Dobbyt's enquiry on April 6 had been posted to the "Forum Support" sub-forum., it might have received feedback from forum technical staff.

Dobbt participates mainly on other motohome-related forums and his only previous posting here was on May 9 2022 (3 days after he joined this forum). He last logged on here over 5 months ago (April 8 2024), so he is unlikely to read your advice.

The current version of the Out&AboutLive forum's  search capabilities are unable to meet Dobbyt's wishes and, in any case, if the issue he refers to were encountered (and the chances of that happening or mattering much will be minimal) it can be worked around by using a search-engine like GOOGLE-Advanced.
