michele Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 What right have sky got to stop us from watching them . We have phoned because our card wont decode them . Sky keep telling us that they will send a signal down the line . The longest we waited was a week ? and still nothing is there another way around it.
colin Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 From my experience if you keep reciever connected to dish and powered up then C4 and Five should decode with in 24hrs, Sky system is designed for use at home not on the move
michele Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Thanks Col, Its actually at home I,m talking about sorry should of said !
crinklystarfish Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 This has happened to me too. I phoned Sky and told them I didn't think I should pay for a service that they had contracted to supply but failed. They reimbursed a month's subscription. Not the answer I know, but it was a bit of a sweetner.
Hymer C 9. Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 We bought a card off Sky for a one off payment of £20 which gives us Channel 4 & 5 for 3 Years, which we have used all over Europe so don't see any reason why you can not get same card for home, Carol. *-)
Frankkia Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I think Michele has that card. The problem is when your box is powered off for a while. Sky send out "stay alive" signals every so often and if your box is powered off it misses the signal and the card goes to sleep. Normally if it has done that leaving the set powered up for up to 48hrs will bring it back to life. It should be in the box for which it was first registered if possible. The reason for this is so that the card will be used in the UK where it was registered. The good news is that the contract with Sky runs out for Ch4 & 5 in 2008 and it is probable they will go FTA so you will be able to get 'em with any FTA receiver or with a Sky box without a card.
