crinklystarfish
I’ve done a forum search and made a start, but now am struggling.I have an ageing laptop running XP Professional but with no WiFi capability.I’m tempted to give the old hot-spots thing a go just to send and receive email, and maybe do a spot of surfing from time to time. I anticipate ad-hoc use in coffee shops etc. and don’t intend to get into a subscription or voucher service like BTOpenZone.I’m bewildered though by the array of PCMCIA and USB options that I seem to have. Prices seem to range from about £10 to about £100. I happily confess I am ignorant of the technology. What standards do I need to look for to ensure a good level of performance, and does anyone have any views on the PCMCIA / USB choice? If anyone can recommend a known good solution, and retailer, so much the better. Thanks in anticipation. Clive
Spend no more than £15 at PC world and get the USB thingy. This will be more than adequate for you to try out hot spots.
