It's all suddenly starting to seem real!!

As well as having sold the Escort, we've now booked our B&B for the night before collection, and arranged the insurance for the new van!

(By the way, does anyone else have their MH covered to include "business use?" I've had to change to a "commercial" policy with my present outfit, even though they used to cover Hannibal like that. Since our van is our main vehicle, OF COURSE I have to use it for work! Any suggestions of firms worth trying come renewal time?)

Your insurance should have no difficulty in you using your van 'in connection with your own trade or business - or Class A as it used to be known'.

The problem lies when you use the van in connection with 'your employers trade or business' and that is when you need full business cover (it used to be called Class B).

Your certificate of insurance should spell out what use is and is not covered.

So as long as you are acting on your own initiative and not directly on instructions from a higher level I would expect Class A to be sufficient.

Nevertheless if you have any doubts or the certificate is ambiguous I would discuss it with your insurers and ask for a letter of confirmation as many motor caravan insurance policies exclude all types of business use and sometimes they even exclude commuting to and from work.

I have had to re-insure our mh for our trip to France to work!

Caravan Guard who we are with at the moment won't do it! so I have gone to the c&cc club care - so now when the time comes we will be covered for personal business use I think its called.

So instead of just social, domestic and pleasure - it is also covered to travel to a permanent place of work. The premium wasn't any more expensive. But we have got 365 days uk and european breakdown cover, which was a bit pricy, but worth the peace of mind.
