Italian aires

Hi, planning our 08 outing to Greece and think we would like to take another look around Venice prior to getting on the ferry.

Other times we have driven all the way round to Punta Sabbioni to the aire there.

Does anyone know if the Aires shown on tomtom’s ‘Aires POI’ courtesy of http://www.poihandler.com/ in Mestre vie orlanda or the one at Mira via u risato are, a actually there and, b have a safty’ish feel about them.

Or can anyone recommend an actual campsite in that area that doesn’t want to bankrupt our holiday budget. Thanks, Geoffrey. :-D

Campsite for Venice,

Camping Rialto, Mestre.

You can get a bus to Venice just outside the campsite (tickets avail in reception) and does not take long. Also when you get back you can browze around the local Motorhome dealer nearby and a few other shops.

Site was a little tired when were there a few years ago, but we found ideal for Venice and not expensive.

Jon.

Why not use a "Sosta"? Italy has excellent ‘camper-stops’ called ‘aree di sosta’. Italy also allows caravans to use the camper-stops. There may be as many 2000 and 1500 are listed in Guida Camper.

Using Italian camper-stops certainly provides an excellent insight into local culture.

Information can be found at

http://www.camperclubitalia.it/Links+Utili/Aree+di+sosta/default.aspx it's all in Italian unfortunatly.

http://www.camper.netsurf.it Click on "Sosta" then "AA Italia" it's in Italian but there are some GPS cords.

Safe travelling.

Hi

Be careful of the "bus routes". If something is on in town in the evening the roads become very busy and if the bus is full before it reaches your campsite it will divert off the route. You may well be left waiting.

This is also very common practice along the campsites on lake garda.

Some of their aires are very good but some are poor and dangerous.

Regards,

Brendan.
