Vicarious Books (VB) distribute two French Aires de Services publications and publish/distribute their own (in English) version. Looking at the VB website indicates that the last book won't be available until next month.

GOOGLE provides potential suppliers for the French books as

http://www.outdoorbits.com/2008-guide-officiel-aires-services-camping-p-780.html

http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/ProductDetails-Guide+National+Des+Aires+De+Services+Pour+Camping+Car+-9782848900438.html

(Obviously, whichever booklet you are interested in, you'd need to check with the supplier for availability if you want the thing immediately.)

Hi there,

Just checked on Amazon.fr and they have 2008 book in stock. Price is euro 8.55 with postage of euro 6.05. Not quite sure if there may be VAT as website says possible local tax. If you already use Amazon.uk then you can use the same details as in this country.

Regards

Nick

Both the French guides are available at http://www.vicarious-shop.co.uk/category.php?c_id=4 at £9.99 with a 5% discount.

If you wait until next month you can have "All the Aires France" (in English)

See http://www.vicarious-shop.co.uk/view_product.php?c_id=4&sc_id=&p_id=39 The guide has 1600 aires listed, 1300 have been inspected and have GPS co-ords.

The English guide has more "aires" listed than the French ones.

Don:

Bit wary of your final paragraph.

I guess it might be true of the French "Le Guide National des Aires de Services 2008", but the much more comprehensive "Le Guide Officiel Aires de Services Camping Car 2008" must list at least 5000 'aires' in France, plus a couple of thousand entries for other European countries.

Not sure when you are going, but if it's fairly soon, you may pick one up at a French bookshop or supermarket. We did about a couple of years ago, but after early May they seem to have sold out.

Hi Derek,

I've used the "Le Guide Officiel Aires de Services Camping Car" for many years and it's a good guide but they include campsites as well as aires in their total of "Aires".

The Vicarious book list 1600 aires, not campsites.

It would be very interesting to find out exactly how many "Aires" are listed in the Le Guide Officiel Aires de Services Camping Car. Maybe somebody will count them for us.
