chippeysteve
I am trying to find a bike rack for a Discovery 3 that is rear mounting and doesnt rely on a tow bar that will carry 2 bikes, any solutions would be welcome as i am chasing my tail at the moment !! Trevor
Could have one fitted on the tow bar, may be a good idea to have two lightweight gas bottle instead of the heavy one fitted to help with the noseweight, good luck Trevor
chippeysteve
Thanks for reply, The tow bar is the type that is removable with a key so there isnt a solid plate to fit a bracket to.
Keithl
Steve, Thule do a whole range that clamp directly onto the tow ball and I'm sure I've also seen an ad for another make that clamped a bracket around the swan neck below the ball allowing a trailer or caravan to be towed at the same time. Try Googling Discovery cycle carrier and see what comes up? Hope this helps. Keith. Edit. Or what do Land Rover dealers offer?
chippeysteve
Keith, Thanks for taking the time to reply, I have been in contact with Thule some time ago but they didnt seem to want me to have rack whilst towing a caravan and so said have a roof mounted carrier( i would need a ladder and some major muscles for that option! ) I think the clamp around the base of the swan neck sounds promising, so thanks for the idea. Can you remember where you saw this ? Regards Steve
Keithl
Hi Steve, Right, I've just Googled 'Swan neck cycle carrier' and amongst the results I found Maxxraxx. This link should show you a clamp on mounting. If you don't like the look of that one try using Google. (Other search engines are available!). Keith.
