daveseven
Fiat Ducato X-250, 2009 Engine has cut out 3 times driving, once on tickover. Will turn over, but only start after 5 minutes or so. Error messages – ASR disconnect, ABS unavailable, Hill holder unavailable. Fault codes – U1701, U1600, U1602 I have read previous reports of similar problems. Have added earth leads, checked cables/connections under ns/headlight. Tried local garage, commercial garage and finally Fiat Professional Commercial Garage. Fiat Pro found no fault (at great expense). Refused to change any sensors – no point. Help –what now?
Keithl
Is it similar to this previous issue... http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Fiat-Ducato-X250-engine-cutting-out-/41688/ If so Nick (euroserv) posted advice re the fuel lift pump in the tank. gordonaldson
Of course it is Keith loss of fuel pressure or not getting the pressure required to suit ECU...So what is it this time, injector leakage, bypass valve or air in system. First job to check fuel return to tank from first two...On cranking to start...As there shouldn't be any...Air in system, don't think these engines have a problem with filter seals... mikefitz
I would replace the fuel filter element or the complete filter housing as a first step unless this has already been done. Have a leak off test carried out on the injectors. Everything points to a fueling problem and I am surprised Fiat found no fault. Mike
colin
A long shot, but have you checked air filter and/or has it had mice in filter? If so check air intake up to air mas sensor for any mice or debris.
daveseven
Thanks for the replies. I have been away to collect the van – and look at new ones. Fiat Pro confirmed no faults found, no errors listed and no suggestions. Have now driven 100 mls – worrying every mile. Suggestions for a similar problem (on Motorhome Madness/Facebook) were – ecu, but more likely wiring issue. Apparently it’s not that unusual. I’d hate to pay £1600 for a new ecu to find the problem was still there. Time for a new van I think. Thanks again, David
