Richard J
I will attach a photo of my Dometic fridge. The door lock no longer works. How do you access the lock, do I have to take the front door panel off ? Any help, much appreciated.Richard
Keithl
Richard, DO you still have your 2004 Swift? If so is the catch on the top centre of the door and look like this... https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/cooling/caravan-fridge/dometic-caravan-fridge-spare-parts/dometic-rm7270-absorption-refrigerator-spare-parts/travel-catch-complete-vertical-knob or this with different graphics... https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/cooling/caravan-fridge/dometic-caravan-fridge-spare-parts/door-and-travel-catches-for-dometic-and-electrolux-fridges/dometic-sliding-door-catch-with-vertical-knob-grey Keith. Robinhood
...from the pictures, it looks like the same lock as fitted to my larger fridge/freezer. I think you'll find the accessible face has a thin white plasticised 'paper' square adhered to it, covering the mounting screws. (easy to see if you know; not if you don't!) Carefully peel it and retain for re-sticking (or use the one that comes with a replacement). You can see it on the schematic John has just posted above. Richard J
Thanks chaps, repaired courtesy of a spring out of a free Barclays pen. Don’t tell Mr Barclay ! Thanks again.
firedecisions
Had the same thing happen to mine, found the pen spring was not up to the job, but found a bag of assorted springs for £1.99 on amazon and they have done the job perfectly
RayF
We've never experienced this problem before with the Norcold refrigerator in our travel trailer but the 5ver has a Dometic fridge. We haven't been out on the road with it yet but now after reading about everyone else's troubles I'm thinking a piece of Velcro on the door and another on the side of the fridge with a Velcro strap placed across the two sounds like a good idea when in travel mode.
