Pete-B
The gas strut on the habitation door of our 2015 Bessacarr 462 has come apart, anyone know the best place to buy a replacement? Thanks for any suggestions.

Derek Uzzell
Seems to be a common problem as SGS Engineering (mentioned by Paul above) advertise a specific strut https://www.sgs-engineering.com/nl5196-replacement-gas-strut-for-bessacarr-habitation-door
Pete-B
Hi, Thanks again for your replies, I have now solved the problem. I found that one end of the strut had a screw thread which must have turned itself over time and become unattached. By removing the spring clips I was able to remove the whole strut and screw it back to the end piece.
Keithl
If it comes unscrewed again put a drip of super glue on the threads before refitting. Keith.
monique.hubrechtsgm
That super Glue is called loctite. In two versions: removable or not. Famous product
Will86
Loctite is a different animal to Super Glue
Derek Uzzell
“Loctite” is just a trade name and (as will be seen here) http://www.loctite-consumer.co.uk/en.html the company markets a wide range of glues - ’super’ and otherwise. Loctite also markets ‘threadlockers’ https://www.henkel-adhesives.com/uk/en/products/industrial-adhesives/threadlockers.html As Keith says, a drip of ‘super glue’ on the strut’s threaded end should stop it turning, or a 'threadlocker’ could be used instead. The latter need not be a Loctite product https://tinyurl.com/y3tpcssc
Keithl
My reason for saying superglue as opposed to Loctitie was that most people will have superglue in their tool kit but very few will have genuine Loctite! And as Derek has pointed out, in this instance 'ordinary' superglue will most likely prove adequate! Keith.
