Den
Class 7 covers from 3 to 3.5 ton. Quite a few garages that mot cars are also class 7. Den
Keithl
Hans, Do you mean 'van' as in a commercial vehicle or a 'Motor caravan' as in a converted van? In the UK all 'Motor Caravans' irrespective of weight are MOT tested as a 'Car'. Keith.
Hans
Keithl that is not done here. The brake test line is different. And they are weight tested as a guide line. In other words to test the whole thing upto let say 5 tons as a normal car?
Derek Uzzell
As Keith has said, in the UK all motor caravans are treated as cars and subject to a Class 4 MOT test. https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/mot-test-fees (In the UK, we also tend to drive on the left hand side of the road ;-) )
Den
They are tested as a car. But you need a class 7 testing centre which has the lift capacity for Motorhomes.
Harvey
Den - 2020-09-18 1:55 PM They are tested as a car. But you need a class 7 testing centre which has the lift capacity for Motorhomes. Or a pit. Harvey

Derek Uzzell
The Class 7 MOT test is intended for commercial vehicles having a 3.0 to 3.5 tonne gross weight. So - if you have an average size/weight ‘coachbuilt’ motorhome - it’s likely that its MOT test will need to be carried out at a MOT test centre that has equipment capable of performing Class 7 MOT tests. However (as the link in my posting of 18 September 2020 9:30 AM above shows) the MOT test for “motor caravans” (and that’s irrespective of vehicle weight) is a Class 4 test. There’s a November 2019 list of GB MOT test centres here https://data.gov.uk/dataset/87de9bf8-b936-44ff-89c4-f69f8f9bb9c1/mot-test-centres-in-great-britain
