  1. thanks Robin, you're 100% right. It's not what I want to hear but is the same as my son and brother have tokd me. But not what I want to do. Call me a MOG or what, but I hate to waste the hundreds of CD's in the name of progress - it's not as if I want to plug in my eight track😅
  2. Recently took delivery of a Ford Transit based motorhome, a Chausson 733 and it's pretty good. Apart from the sound system. As is common with most vehicles now it doesn't have a CD player, instead the sales guy and tech guy at the dealer tell me I've got to download my 125 or so CD's on to a memory stick. No chance of me spending the hours and hours needed to do that whilst I've already got the CD's. The fitted nav/radio system is an XCENT X Map27 and I've bought a separate CD player from auntie Google and whilst it plugs in it doesn't play play properly. It seems to know that "something's" plugged in but, all I get on the screen is "Audio only", and nothing works. Looking on Google it seems I need some form of emulation module. But I can't find one in UK. They're available in USA for around €400 but then there's shipping and customs etc and what if it doesn't work? Not sure if I can post a Youtube article, but here goes So, the Q is, can anybody point me in the right direction of what I need? I don't have Apple play but do have an Android phone. Help please. TIA
  3. SWMBO had a hospital appointment in Huntingdon today for something totally unrelated, and the Doctor who was treating her looking at her bite scarred legs said "have you been to Sandringham this weekend? " Seems Kings forest midges are well known in the medical profession
  4. Cor, I dun good eh Pilchard 🤩 And well sorted
  5. Yes Zyde, they could do with a couple more to make it up to a round bloodythousand.🙄
  6. Can't believe a new fridge is coming out at £1,000 as Keith mentioned above. However, for a 22 year old caravan/motorhome I'd be tempted to look on ebay for cheaper fix. Several used one's there ranging from £50 up to £300. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1311&_nkw=caravan+fridge+3+way&_sacat=0
  7. Just back from a couple of days at this site, would have stayed longer but for the biting insects. I have 35 bites on my legs, SWMBO has over 50 so we came home early and boy do they itch🥴 Stopped at Boots in KL and when I asked the pharmacist for bite cream, before I said anything else she said, were we staying at Sandringham, 'cos they get loads of campers in with the same problem Nice site but for the biters😕
  8. Very helpful reply from one of our skilled, experienced Moderators🤔. So which one should I buy then
  9. Do you measure your fuel consumption in litres per 100kms or like most paople I know, miles per gallon? And if the former, why?
  10. Looking to change our M/H and our current insurer Comfort won't offer ANY cover on a Ford based M/H unless a Thatcham 5 or 6 or an S5 or S7 tracker is fitted and fully functional BEFORE we collect it from the dealer. Had an offer of an S7 for £380. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? TIA
  11. Aha, I'd misunderstood, I thought the OP was going to have a M/H in S Africa, hence my comment about snakes and dealers in Capetown. If it's going to be here in UK, a lot easier to find a company/storage yard to provide battery charging etc.
  12. Where are you planning to store it? In a secure compound, a friends garden or what? Either way the battery's likely to self discharge a bit if not switched off though if you disconnect it and your m/h has solar panel, you might just get away with it. If it were me, I'd have the M/H serviced before putting it into storage and make sure creepy crawlies and in your case snakes are kept out,, though not sure how you can do that. I'd guess a local dealer could look after it for you running it every so often but what the cost would be ???. Google shows quite a lot of suitable places that could supply a service for you vehicle storage cape town airport - Google Search
  13. Bought my refillable one from Tektanks in Kenilworth. Very helpful and better price than others, though tbh I know nothing about Autogas2000
  14. I sold a 90k mile Jag S type to my daughter's father in law at a good price. He wanted it 'cos his Mondeo had blown up due to never servicing it. About 18mths later the jag engine blew up and he admitted he'd never had it serviced or checked the oil and had the nerve to ask me if he could get a refund. FRO rang a bell,🤔 Hmm
  15. Interesting poinyts esp re Comfort who are my insurer, Will see what they say when I change the M/H but am leaning towards carrying a space saver or just a tyre which I think I could keep under the bed
  16. If Keith reckons a wheel weighs 40 Kg, that really eats into my payload. Hmm, Can you get space saver wheels for the m/h, like I had on my little Aygo? Or maybe just a tyre and get the AA man to take off the punctured one and replace it? Will they do that?
  17. On my Elddis 196 I have an unused spare wheel slung under the rear of the M/H which as a guess weighs in at 12kg. Am in the process of swapping to a Chausson 788 which doesn't have one and the dealer says the supplied repair kit is good enough. The new m/h has a pretty big garage where one could fit, but I'm loathe to waste the space on a spare. What's your position/thoughts about a spare? Do you have one? Would you be happy without and has anyone actually needed one and if so what's the protocol
  18. There's some good advic here and I've always had my opild changed every year. Yes the proper oil isn't cheap but the total cost of oil and filter comes out under £100. How much is a new engine? And it's an easy job to do too. My advice, which is worth exactly what you're paying for it (i.e nothing 🤪) is change it every year.
  19. Was at the C&MC club site in Skegness last week and they had a sign saying "we have all sizes of calor cylinders" HTH
  20. Look on the back of the cushion, there should be a maker's label. Phone them for a replacement but make sure you're sitting down first. Or the Autosleepers forum might help with a new one too. https://www.autosleeper-ownersforum.com/t13397-seat-covers
  21. Currently use an Aldi one in my car and a Lidl one in the M/H. Both work fine and the Aldi one can do front and rear but I only use the front bit. Had them 3 or 4 years and no issues. Not sure if they still do them or if it's one of their offers that comes and goes.
  22. For one night Blilling Aquadrome's not too bad. On site pub/restaurant too. On A45 off M1 J 15 IIRC
  23. Sent the Warners show team an email asking if we can advertise it there but the answer's no due to the number of dealers in attendance. But they very helpfully gave me a list of attendees so we'll ask them if they want to sell it on a brokerage basis. If we've still got it come Malvern may try there but hopefully it'll be gone by then.
  24. Son has an excellent 2019 Hobby caravan in immaculate condition but due to various reasons has only used it for two weeks since buying it and now needs to sell it. It's been stored in a garage since buying it so it really is in first class condition If he takes it to say the Norwich show next weekend can he display it for sale there? And if so how does he book it in a pay for it?
  25. Cor thanks chaps, esp Derek. You seem to know what I do better than I do? I reckon you're really a wife so I claim my five pounds 😁
