  1. Def not a fuse problem as its connected to the fuse that also has lights etc etc and the power supply is ok so def the charger. I am having some difficulty finding a replacement that looks to be next to useless. So then I am now thinking of fitting a cigaret lighter socket and plugging in an adaptor so if there is a problem in the future then all I have too do is get a new adapter but would this be good practice or not so I shouldn't, anyone?
  2. Took the usb charger out today as I had a spare hour, simple enough and low and behold there is power there so charger is def kaput, I have instructed the wife to only charge the mobiles in future just in case an iPad is too much don't want to encourage a fire thats for sure.
  3. Latest is that I have now been accepted so had a search of the site and found that it is completely the norm for these usb ports to fail and even more frighteningly CATCH FIRE can you believe?!!!!! So then it will be removed on Monday whatever and I will then be able to get a good look at things before replaceing it. A few nice people have even taken a few photos but most say its not a difficult job to do so I dont forsee any difficulties. I'll let you all know how things sort themselves out.
  4. Hi Dizzied, yes the switch is on and I have found that everything else is working ie. all lights etc etc. I think my wife may have killed it as she may have plugged her iPad into it and not just the iPhones. I have to say I never gave it a thought that it might be too much a load to tell her not to do that. On Monday I intend to remove it from its housing in that I have now had a good look at how it is all fixed and fingers crossed its not that big a job. I am not sure you can buy an expensive alternative and c£7 is about all I can find to spend so a cheapo component for sure. I didn't know there was a Facebook group might join that if only to see what else there has been problems with so thanks for that. Onecal, might get one of those as it could be of use in the future anywhere, didn't know they existed. I tried to join the Facebook group but as I was immediately (a split second later I should add) refused I presume that they have put a block on any new members. I did as asked and wrote an answer in the box on why I wanted to join and ticked the box on reading the rules so couldn't do more. Ah well perhaps another day.
  5. I have had a look at the usb port and can't see how it can be mains fed, access is really poor so can't test for power and will have to take the over head shelf completely apart to do that and that is the last thing I want to do. I have looked at the leisure battery and there doesn't seem to be any odd fuses with that. My conclusion is that the usb port is 12v (wife must be wrong about them working only when on hook up) but has now packed up completely and is fed off a fuse that is shared so not blown. It would have been useful if I had a circuit diagram but don't or being mentioned in the handbooks. Thanks for comments so far.
  6. I understand that and have tried swapping them over to no availe. I will check for any power getting to them.
  7. The two cables I have tried with are brand new at least are only a couple of months old but will try others in the morning., Since I posted my wife now remembers they only worked when on mains connection and am plugged in on my drive so not a power problem and have checked breakers and mains and that side seems to be all ok, sockets are working and the battery charger is as well. I will look tomorrow if power is getting to them but it would appear not. I'll report back when I have looked, thks Tony.
  8. I have a 2018 Chausson 637 Flash and on the overhead shelf on the passenger side are x2 USB sockets that have stopped working. I can"t find any mention of them in either the Chausson or Ford handbooks though the Ford one does mention the single USB socket in the compartment situated on the dash. I have checked all the fuses on the Chausson side of things but have found none that have burnt out .Everything else in the van seems to be working ok so they don't appear to share a fuse. The two situated by the bed are fitted alongside two 13A sockets so are mains powered and are working ok. I have not checked any on the Ford side of things as I dont want to upset anything by doing so like the radio detuning. Any ideas anyone?
  9. You said you are intending to stay less than the 90 day allowance so I cant seen if it matters if your passport gets stamped or not, I expect Derek will know about having an Irish wife making a difference or not.
  10. OK its UK and not GB sorry for that.
  11. Nothing has really changed as far as I can see. Yes you will need a CritAire sticker whatever your van, You will get your passport stamped but they do that as a matter of course. Angle Morts if you are over 3.5 tons, GB sticker on rear of van. Snow chains yes in some areas or socks of course. We went down as far as Bergerac in Febuary so didnt need any. We have continued to go over every year since Brexit and have had NO problems at all in any way and have not had to do anything particularly special since the Covid restrictions have gone stopped. I have no idea of the 'paperwork' you are talking about. I am going to France again in September for the third time this year and have come across nothing much apart from the few odds and sods that has changed to any degree.
  12. I have just received this picture today from my friend who lives in Reutlingen near Stuttgart .... 30cm of ice fell in the fom of hail ...in August!!! Not saying its not a lot of hail but the summer months and not the winter are when this is most likely to occur.
  13. As far as I am concerned it is to deter anyone that might just think about breaking in as anyone who intends to will and thats a fact. I would not even think of having the lock in place at night and will lock it in the position that allows the door to be opened from the inside when I am using the van and will only actually use it when the vehicle is left alone on my drive. I can't see much damage being caused by just trying to open the door when it is place, surely the door only just cracks open?
  14. Check the film out Dave and you will see how the kit works.
  15. Not good for you! I hope you get it back soon and all is well with it.
  16. Just had a photo sent to me by a friend so I need to buy a set per lock., more money but never mind.
  17. Just fitted a X3 kit of door security locks and now they are in place I can see I need to reduce the gap between door and new lock. I cant see any information on the Fiamma website as to what you get in a single spacer kit so has anyone any idea? I may have to buy 3 spacer kits but dont wan't to do that if I can get away with one.
  18. Not quite applicable but dont even think of removing the tank so you can work on it. I once had an issue with my Autocruise Stardream water storage tank in that we had been away and on getting home I parked as usual by the side of my house. A few days later I notices what I thought was something that had blown under the van but on further inspection I realised my whole tank was actually sat on my drive can you believe? Here are a couple of pics I took at the time. The tank was sat in a trapped position so I had to lift the rear so I could drag it out so I could actually drive the van to my local man for repair.
  19. Recently (last week) a friend decided to fit a new refillable allumininium gas cylinder and also bought a gadget that sits under the cylinder and should have allowed him to read the amount of gas he has left on an app on his phone. Sadly for him it didnt work as the gadget was one that had to be placed under the cylinder and being magnetised was meant to cling on but if course didn't work as the cylinder was not made of steel. I use a Gasflo system and will stick to my learning what the not very accurate dial tells me which is when it reads empty it has about a third of its capacity left which is when I think about a top up.
  20. According to a Facebook item I saw today this is coming our way. not sure its true or not or even in this country but I thought it of interest here. The text stated "Can anyone confirm the functions of this camera? This was seen in Edinburgh yesterday…..seemingly it tests vehicle emissions as they go past with a near 99% efficiency rate and no need to calibrate. It also seemingly detects speed, acceleration, anpr and is rumoured to have mobile phone and seatbelt detection on the way. Basically if your drive past this and fart then you’re getting 3 points and £100 fine through the door".
  21. Found that my friend is on holiday so I will have to wait for him to return. Personally I wouldn't put anything out of date into myself let my motorhome so what it may or may not damage is irrelevant to me as I would not want to take the risk. I presume this is all about the saving of a few pennies which seems to be a national pastime of this country but not for me. I am of course happy to buy something thats cheaper but only if its there at the time and doesnt invoilve me having to put myself out to get. I saw some adblue at a really good price and bought some but I wouldnt have bought enough to last me years and years thats for sure but would have bought more to cover my next top up. My MH cost me £50,000 and I look after it big time so using something that might damage it is a big no no!
  22. Personally we use the Emovis Tag and what ever the cost its the best thing we could have fitted. The stress put on my wife to use the toll booths when it rejected our payment card (and sometimes cash) was huge and now we just drive through effortlessly! The tolls are just part of the expence of traveling in France and for us is now a non event. I am not a wealthy man but this is an area where saving a few euros is really just not worth the effort and even if the Emovis system is a bit more expensive who cares, not us, it works perfectly and theirs is a bill we are very happy to pay and I can only highly recomend.
  23. I am just going to see a friend who is a very experienced vehicle technician (mechanic to you and me) and although he works solely on cars he must have some knowledge on this topic and I will ask him just what damage is caused and what is the part that is damaged if of course that is what can happen.
  24. I didnt have any freezing problems when I was in France in February so wouldnt think it does. It got down to about minus 10 one night.
  25. Never seen one of those rayc.
