  1. Ours has gone up from £301 to £363. Higher than inflation but given what some have been reporting I think not too bad.
  2. We use Puriclean once a year. Part fill the tank, and purge through taps etc. Dissolve correct amount in hot water. Add to tank. Fill up to full with cold water. Run through taps to get stuff into pipes and boiler. Leave overnight, drain, refill with fresh water and drain. Good to go. When emptying the puriclean from tanks we run taps for a while with waste outlet closed so some of it goes into waste tank.
  3. Make sure inside & out are clean, washed etc. Use puriclean in freshwater system as per instructions. It needs leaving overnight so then drain at least some of it through taps and drains into waste tank, and drain waste tank. Make sure you flush system out after using puriclean. Put waste tank cleaner into drains before first outing with some water. Just leave it to drain when on site. Put the shower back together, because you did hang the pipe down and take off the head, didnt you?! Put things back in the van that were taken out over winter eg bedding. We have a check list that includes absolutely everything, down to box of matches. If stuff has been left in double check that it is still needed. Where do you store breakdown cards, CAMC card, CCC card? Our live in the front of the van so those need to go back in. Doing the water tank cleaning allows you to assess there are no leaks that have developed over the winter (fingers crossed) Also check all sockets working. Turn the gas on and check oven and heater working (I prefer to check heater when I have water in boiler). Turn the gas off again.
  4. Usually leave home full. Always leave with some water for use on journey. Always sterilise the whole system in February before our first trip of the year (dont do winter motorhoming). Use tank water for everything. Not noticed any effect on mpg, sure it will have a minor effect. If on a tour might fill up before leaving a site or on arrival. Depends on how easy filling up is/is likely to be. Return to home, only drain tank if not going away for a few weeks. Dont like wasting water, although try and use it for garden. Dont drain boiler. In winter, everything is drained down.
  5. CAMC make a point of having no age discounts of any sort.
  6. Just a word of warning if booking on line, despite having logged in, it sometimes wont let me select ACR and revert to full price and I have to log in again to get ACR,
  7. I use S4S non paid version, its fine. I will retain CAMC membership for the CLs. If CLs allow non members to use their sites then they risk losing their "certificate". We shall retain CCC membership, partly for CSs but also being of a certain age we get cheaper rates on their main sites.
  8. Just a quick note on the stop start. We have a 2021 Ducato with stop start. It used to do so regularly. I was fine with this, save a bit of fuel and also stop fumes etc in standing traffic. Then I noticed no longer doing stop start. Last May, due in for service, was going to mention it and it started working again!. Didnt last long and currently no stop start. Seems lots of things can effect it, so I have just shrugged my shoulders at it!
  9. We've got black ones on our grey PVC. I must admit I didnt think about the "standing out" but more that white ones would look really odd. I think black on a white van look better because there is probably bits of black on the van.
  10. We have an automatic and use ramps. Just go up gently, just a bit of acceleration. Someone outside is good.
  11. As Geeco said two drain holes is a good call. Chances of you being absolutely level is not high so two drains give better chance of draining. Also with only one you sometimes have to get your van slightly tilted one way or another for drain.
  12. Have a combined loo/shower. Ours has a swing wall so loo etc remains dry. Yes, you walk on shower floor when use washbasin or loo, but it is not like a separate shower tray, the floor is the shower tray. We have a 6.4m PVC so the whole room isnt large and its not easy to dry yourself without stepping out at some point - maybe to get to toiletries that are behind the swing wall. As Brian said, all vans are a compromise, look at lots to see the various layouts. Our first van was after having a 2 berth caravan with a fantastic bathroom/dressing room but just not possible in a small motorhome. We do use our shower and loo, all the time, in preference to site facilities and when on CLs with no such facilities. I understand the layout Colin talks about - we saw it when looking for our current van. Decided it wouldnt do for us because it didnt allow easy access to bed area and kitchen whilst one person was in the shower, but horses for courses. Priorities are crucial. You dont spend long in the loo/shower. In our view other aspects are more important, like overall size of van, fixed beds, kitchen big enough to cook meals with sufficient work surface.
  13. When we went we did Puttgarden crossing and then the Oresund Bridge. However you go is expensive.
  14. Eco Tree from Oak Tree Motorhomes in Nottingham. They fitted it, with a new mppt solar controller, and adjusted whatever needed adjusting for lithium. Our charger and b2b were fine.
  15. We have a Dometic compressor fridge. In a 2021 van. We like it as a fridge. It has a night time setting which we dont tend to use because as far as I could tell it just lowered the use until 5am in the morning and the fridge turns itself "off" as its not being opened overnight anyway. Remember, your domestic fridge is a compressor. We had a 120w solar panel and a 95ah battery. Stayed at the Canterbury aire last year, arrived pm with fully charged battery, next day van stood all day while we went into Canterbury, weather poor, rain some time, little solar. Next morning battery was at 11.9v - obviously too low. It charged quickly once on the move but proved to us we could only do one night comfortably off grid without good solar. We have changed to a 230v lithium battery so now no problem. Have done 4 nights off grid very easily. Just went off site with van once, about 15 mins to somewhere and 15 mins back. Did have good solar. Only 4 nights because that's how long we were away. I think lowest battery dropped was to 78% which for lithium is obviously fine.
