breakaleg
Yes Judge, very exspensive, the nearer the lake you are, the more they charge. We turned up at closing time one evening, were told find a pitch, pay in the morning (it was chucking it down with rain at the time) we found a very muddy pitch, closeish to the lake, next morning, we were asked, which pitch we were on. I had no idea as it was so muddy, they got a map out and said, if it was this one it was 20 sfranks dearer than the one behind it, obviously, were definatly on the rear one. peterjl
Hi we stayed at Lazy Rancho as it was easier to cycle into the town and the train station. If you are in interlaken for 6 full days they sell a great 6 day ticket that covers the mountain railways (except last bit up to the jungfrau), cable cars, and buses so you can take train up, then a cable car higher up, - walk across the mountains and get a bus or train back into town - not cheap but well worth it and a big saving over buying individual tickets! We have also stayed at the site in Lauterbrunen - same ticket and system. Cycling, apart from cycling into the town can be limited unless you like hills - its a long slow cycle up but some brilliant v fast downhills! You can take the bike on the trains but they charge and, being switzerland, it ain't cheap. If you get a chance and the weather is clear take train to top of the Jungfrau - you can walk on the glacier and the views are stunning - just beware its 11000+ feet so air is thin and, in our case, the walk on the glacier was slow! onecal
Hi Judge, Lazy Rancho is €25/€30 per night. Cheaper to book six nights if you can. The site is good with some good cycle routes. Regards, Brendan.
mel wood
Hi, Three years ago we stayed at Camping Oberei at Wilderswil (approx 4 km from Interlaken). A very pleasant site with good family/couples' atmosphere and delightful owners. A card was provided free of charge giving free rail travel into Interlaken - the local station is only a few minutes walk from the site. The bus stop is even closer and again travel was free. The train runs from Wilderswil to Schinegge Platte; other trains take you to Grindelwald. Also there is good walking from the site and an interesting village museum. www.campingwildeswil.ch

handyman
http://www.jungfraucamp.ch/sites/indexeng.htm We always stay at this one (follow signs for campsite number 5) Nice, not too big, and not set up too much as a children friendly site! Bus stop outside gate, and about a 10-15 min walk into town...........and flat all the way for the bikes.
