alan k Posted November 5, 2010 Share Posted November 5, 2010 As I reported earlier, my 3 week old 400 mile van went to a Ford Dealer for some minor warranty work (steering wheel radio controls) on Monday. The service guy/"*^~:* managed to hit the gate post moving it in the garage yard and put a hole in the side. Its not a little scrape! This morning the garage's assessor rang to say the first quote by a Hobby specialist was £13,000 for the repair!!! Another repairer visited yesterday and according to the car Bodyshop Manager talked about £20k!!!!!!! Garage door, window, complete side, mouldings etc etc I now understand, but am awaiting confimation paperwork, that the garage's insurer will replace my camper with a new camper to the same spec and I understand that my favourite motorhome dealer (they get excellent comments on here, and from me)) is looking for a van for me. Finger's crossed it all works out. Our previously delayed autumn holiday which was going to be a Christmas Markets alternative is probably in jeopardy but hey. So far the garage and the assesor have been great. The insurance company involved has a well known campervan insurance arm.
