Janie55
The sliding door lock on our domestic fridge has jammed. Should we try to take it apart to sort it or should we buy a replacement? All ideas welcomed!
Keithl
Hi Jane and welcome to the forum, Does the sliding catch look like this... Link? If so there are 2 small webs of plastic under it which swing the catch to lock and unlock and one will have broken. Simply pull the sliding catch off the top of the door to remove and then clip the new one back on ensuring the metal part of the catch fits between the webs. It's simple really, I had to replace ours a few months ago. Keith.
Mel B
You'll probably find that it isn't broken as such, just jammed, this is a 'fault' with these types of fridge locks, so once you've got it off you'll be able to re-align the 'hook' part so that it works properly again. We found that it was often caused if the slider wasn't totally in the unlocked position before shutting the fridge door.
