This subject has probably been covered but since Im on 3G my web browsing has to be brief. Basically can someone recommend a good quality battery to supplement the leisure battery already fitted to my AT Delaware, believe its a 110aH. There seems to be dozens of makes all claimimg to be the best!

I use Orange Trust for both leisure batteries on our AT Tracker they are guara teed for 3 years but last around 6 years and are good enoughfor our use which is mainly on ehu and we have a solar panel so they are not put under pressure but at £76 each for 110 ah they are fine. We can stay off ehu for 3 to 4 days in the uk and indefinitely in sunnier climes.

Would need to know make/type (Gel, AGM, Flooded, flooded sealed) of your existing battey and age before any useful advice can be given.

Stick to premium brands like Varta, Bosch, Banner is usualy best, but all depends what you presently have and its condition.

I suspect that your present Banner battery is an "Energy Bull" Type 957 51 with a capacity (as specified by Banner) of 100Ah/K20. An example is shown in this advert:

The electrolyte-level of Energy Bull batteries can be topped if required, but probably won't need to be. Nevertheless, you'd be wise to keep an eye on the electrolyte-level and confirm once in a while that it's OK.

Energy Bull batteries should be vented and I assume Auto-Trail has fitted a vent-tube to your present one. If you install a 2nd Energy Bull battery, you should fit a vent-tube to it, either linking that tube to the existing one via a 'T-piece' or leading the new tube separately to the vehicle's exterior.

Unless Auto-Trail has allowed for a 2nd leisure-battery to be installed, you'll also need to obtain the cables/fittings necessary to connect the original and new batteries in parallel. For technical advice, see the following:

Regarding supplier recommendations, I suggest you use GOOGLE (with "banner energy Bull 110ah" as the search term) but also try local battery specialists. (You will probably be looking at around a £110 asking-price wherever you get the battery from.) RoadPro has a good reputation:

(There is a small possibility that your present Banner battery is not an Energy Bull (eg. it MIGHT be a "Running Bull"). If that's the case, then you'll need to say what name is on the battery's labelling as this could well impact on how the 2nd battery should be fitted.)

Nearest supplier is at

http://www.bannerbatterien.com/banner/unternehmen/haendlerfinder/index8.php

We have a Banner battery on which the cell caps were very tight and I damaged. I contacted Banner and they sent me 6 cell caps at no charge.

Rgds

Does that application work for the UK, because I can't get it to!

There is a listing of stockists here

http://www.worldofmotorhomes.com/inside-van/electrics-batteries/banner-batteries-stockists

but I don't know if it's current or accurate.

Details of Banner's UK office are:

Banner Batteries (GB) Ltd

Unit 5-8 Canal View Business Park

Wheelhouse Road

Rugeley

Staffordshire

WS15 1UY

Tel: 01889 571 100

Fax: 01889 577 342

e-mail: office.bgb@bannerbatteries.com

(I normally use a 2p coin to undo/tighten removable battery 'caps', if necessary gripping the coin in a Mole-wrench to undo the caps initially if they prove to be very tight. Using a screwdriver risks chewing up the cap, which may not much concern Micky Mechanic but is displeasing for those of us afflicted with the Neatness Gene. As Brambles has mentioned Banner AGM batteries, I guess it's worth emphasising that no attempt should be made to remove the caps fitted to those batteries.)

Colin,

Auto-Trail pre-wire all their vehicles for a second battery. All you need is the harness from Auto-Trail... Link.
