Abcheetham
I was wondering why so many motorhomes have full width bars rather than just the tow ball etc in the middle. Anyone know?
Keithl
To act as a rear bumper if the unfortunate happens and you either back into something or. probably more likely judging by recent comments on here, get rear ended in slow moving traffic. Keith. Edit. And yes we've got a full width bar on ours!
Tracker
Particularly as body panels can be a nightmare to source and impossible for so many vans that are not very old. It's also cheaper and more effective than a reversing camera and also discourages others from parking too close!
Rayjsj
My 2012 Autotrail had to have a 'type approved' towbar , and it is 'just a ball in the middle' (a VERY expensive 'Witter' removable 'ball in the middle') I do have reversing sensors AND a camera (belt and braces !) But that doesn't stop someone 'rear ending' me, just means that I will hear and see them do it in glorious colour. Would prefer a large Girder on the back. but hey ho ! thats the lovely EU for you.
