violet1
Any advice please, I have a 2004 Hymer B564 and the engine battery is discharging when not in use. It is a new battery, I have disabled the cab radio and checked the obvious lights etc but it is still discharging are there any obvious things to look for? All advice greatly appreciated as always. daviddwight
Possibly the on board engine management system etc. Our Mh always shows a battery discharge when parked up and everything switched off.

violet1
It's discharging to the point where if it is left more than a day there isn't enough power to start the engine, would that happen in that case?
Keithl
Violet, Are you sure there is something flattening it and that it is not just kn*ckered? Try disconnecting the negative when you park and see if it still goes flat overnight. Keith.
violet1
It's a brand new battery so hopefully not, will try disconnecting. Thanks
daviddwight
Could the earth strap be loose, we had this once when the earth strap was loose connecting to the gearbox casing.
spospe
To discharge a battery to the point where it will not start after a day, points to a high discharge rate. I would try disconnecting the battery and measuring the drain with a meter. The current flow will give you a clue as to the culprit. Is it possible that the fridge is set to 12 volt and the isolating relay has stuck on? (an absorbtion fridge will draw circa 7-9 amps and that will easily flatten a battery in a day. Use a meter and patiently go round the van until you find the culprit, it must be something significant (you haven't got tank heaters have you and they have been left switched on?)
