dave42420
Hi Does anyone know the calculation for the weight changes for a scooter and rack being added to a TAG axle rather than a single axle? I've seen the thread on the single axle but can't see anything on a tag axle? Regards David
Keithl
Hi David, Try using the calculator on SV Tech's website... http://lda2.svtech.co.uk/design?type=type8 Keith.
Derek Uzzell
Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, David. I can offer you two links to forum discussions that bear on your inquiry http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/calculating-axle-weights-with-a-tag-axle-motorhome.123091/ http://www.motorhomefacts.com/forum-printtopic-1-142598-0-0-asc-viewresult-1.html The 1st link goes into this in some depth, but I’m not sure if there’s a black-or-white conclusion. It may well depend on what your objective is in asking the question. If, say, you were seeking to optimise tyre pressures for the two rear axles individually, you’d need to know what extra-load effect carrying the scooter would have on each individual axle. If you just wanted to know the overall extra-load effect on the rear axles, you could just treat both axles as if they were a single axle and use the single-rear-axle ‘weight change’ formula with a rear-axle position-datum mid-way between the two rear axles.
