Hard Bexit and Soft Brexit

I kinda wish people would stop talking about a ‘hard Brexit’ or a ‘Soft Brexit’. In reality neither exists. The choice facing us is whether we stay a member of the EU as is, or quit completely. There is no middle choice. The EU will never tolerate any concessions for a so called ‘soft Brexit’ as firstly it breaks all their rules and they would need 27 approvals to change that and secondly by doing so would open the gates to all the other nations to demand opt outs of their own. Basically the whole edifice would collapse. Despite all the rhetoric it just cannot happen.

I hear the same things from our politicians as others, about whether we may pay to remain in the single market or not, but again these are all just talk and have no factual foundations. It makes good newpaper print but little else. They all know that if we leave, we leave totally. Of course then after that, there are all sorts of possibilities for new treaties for trade as it is the interests of both sides to make one, as can be done between any 2 nations, or 1 nation and 1 Block, but it cannot be done under the existing situation. Some have suggested a ‘Norway’ type deal and this might work but it gives the Uk little more advantage than the present situation so a 3rd way will have to be found and again it can be done. Of course then Norway may wish to transfer to the 3 rd way if it is better, and why not. If at the end of the day it improved trade for everyone, then why not? Of course nations such as France will object because they like the existing situation where they get huge subsidies, but it is maybe time to tell the French yet again, they are not important. What about it Angela??
