John52
In an attempt to skirt the bad publicity given to hiring people on zero hours contracts (of which there were 908,000 in the final quarter of last year) Santander are now hiring people on one hour contracts - guaranteed one hours work a month. Typically they don't offer these contracts anywhere else in Europe - only in Britain. I used to consider myself right wing, but am beginning to feel like a Socialist now :-S
RogerC
Just goes to show how badly employment law is worded and how low some companies will go to increase their 'bottom line'.
Bulletguy
I wonder how many Managers at Santander will be on those? ;-) A spokesman for Santander said staff received “full employment rights with no obligation to accept additional hours or exclusivity”. Can't see there being many "rights" in 12 hours a year.....they won't have time for any. :-(

The Labour party has MOST to answer for here as traditionally they were supposed to be for the Working man,now it seems they are for the Working Politician or Momentum member. cheers derek
