tonyg3nwl
Hi folks, we arrived back home today, having been around the extreme north coast of Scotland following the tourist map.with the exception of not going into applecross. Other half decided it was not something we should risk in the van. COWARD. We made good use of Britstop, Caravan club sites, Camping club sites, commercial sites and freebies where possible, and travelled close on 2000 miles,, departing on 9th may, so just 4 weeks overall. Our tour also took us around the extreemes of Skye. Overall , weather was reasonably kind, with plenty of sunshine, just occasional off days with a bit of rain, and best of all, the midgies seemed to have gone on their holidays somewhere else. Before departing, I indulged in a new digital movie camera, and this was set up to be forward looking through the windscreen to capture the views en route, and hand held when visiting places of interest. The results have captured some excellent reminders of the holiday. Some of the route includes single track passing places, so care needed to be exercised, and remembering to give way using the passing places.. The North Coast 500 route has almost caused overload on parts of the route, and even the locals grumble about some of the congestion in places, but are still happy to try emptying our wallets. Back home now, so where to next???. Tonyg3nwl Ps met up with a fellow Ham radio enthusiast on Skye.callsign MM0LUP. Tony.
