Not looking good for the Tories. I wont put a smiley as I dont want to tempt fate. Ah feck it. :D (lol)

Mmmm ... Cant stand the man but Corbyn had a brilliant campaign and motivated the young to vote ... The Tories had an absolute car crash campaign and thank God for The DUP ( probably ) ... Today may be interesting ... Best thing about the night Queen Nicola getting a proper kicking

Well, who would have thought it?  Quite a kicking for Theresa May - and of course Nicola Sturgeon.

Where do we go from here?  God protect us from Boris Johnson.  I think I'd rather see Jeremery fumble along for a few months and then another election.

Have you joined the Mad Hatter's Tea Party now?

Trouncing the SNP means is the English Taxpayer will keep subsidising Scotland.

It was the biggest Tory F*ck up for nearly a year. And now off to some rather-important negotiations with a hung parliamentPS: Wonder why the pounds crashed again *-)

For once I agree with you - except perhaps that you might conclude that Jeremy Corbyn's left wing agenda has been endorsed, whereas I see this result as more of just a rejection of Theresa's Hard Brexit intentions and her open determination to press on with austerity.

The announcements about removing the triple lock on pensions and what got labelled very quickly as dementia tax were steps too far in the run up to a general election.  JC's willingness to promise the earth, as if it could ever be delivered simply by raising corporation tax and income tax on the better off, was much more appetising to some old and plenty of new, young voters.

That's democracy with a universal franchise for you!

Yes, so do I. I suspect its a real minority that want to go down that route and the government has been called to account. Surely this means we need a second referendum or at least for the public to have the final say once a deal is ironed out, assuming we can get a government into place to do that now.Oh dear, what a mess.

Barryd999 - 2017-06-09 10:22 AM........................Oh dear, what a mess.

Yes but a mess that holds out hope, and provides an opportunity for a lot of re-thinking. The Conservatives have disgracefully placed party before national interest now on three occasions, and lost badly in the process. Cameron with the referendum, May with the legal challenge over use of the Royal Prerogative, and May again with this election.

In fact, I don't think any of these will have been decisions taken by the incumbents alone, as I would expect the famous "grey men" to have endorsed all three.

They now have a lot of repair work to do in the near future, and with Brexit and a hung parliament to manage, plus a shortage of "political giants" at their disposal, I would expect a further election before Brexit concludes. Personally, I don't think a "bloody difficult woman" is the right candidate for the job!

The other parties seem to consist of little better that dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants, so no great encouragement there.

I live in hope that the expression "cometh the hour, cometh the man" (or woman! :-)) may yet prove our salvation, but I can't identify him/her at present. Any offers?

I think we can see the arrogance of holding what they thought was certainty of retaining power in the cause of this mess - and I don't think it's necessary to assume that it was the service of the Conservative Party's interests which were driving things.  David Cameron had promised a Referendum and therefore backed himself into a corner but as you say trying to use Royal Perogative to bypass Parliament and the combination of asking for a personal mandate and at the same time heralding continuing austerity were big mistakes.

I too hope for a White Knight (in a gender neutral sense) to emerge but I doubt that Boris Johnson fits that bill.

TM was going to speak outside No 10 at 10 am and as yet no sign of her. I think if you make an appointment with the electorate you should keep it. I think the Tories should appoint a new leader with a better idea of how to meet the minimum standards demanded of a Prime Minister in showing respect for the public.

I wrote that before I heard about the agreement on the part of the DUP to provide "dat to day" support to a TM government. Good grief, it gets worse. That leaves 10 DUP MPs (elected by 300,000 Ulster voters) more or less in charge of UK government policy - and able to extract DUP friendly (i.e. expensive!) deals each time the Conservatives need their votes. I bet Arlene gets her Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme overspend written off first!! :-D Desperation or what? This is pure farce - except that it's serious! :-(

Because Theresa May said she wouldn't hold an election.

Then staged one that looked like one of those home videos where someone attempts to light their own f*rts and end up in hospital
