Eberspacher roof airco unit ebercool holiday 3.

Recommended Posts

This unit at a price fitted at 3800 euro is gaining very popular in our club. The goal is cooling at 12 volts DC. It can drop 30 to 20 deg c. Normally you have to sacrifice one heki roof to fit them. They take the water from your watertank at quite a amount. But all are very satified whit them to keep the dogs cool. Any users in uk?

We had easy cool Air Con fitted to our roof. used 12v or mains electric. Rarely used it , and as the weight was heavy and ate into our payload, we took it off after 10 years, and replaced with an extra roof light. Did not use water though. Only useful if you live or go to hot countries in the height of summer. we spend most time in van in Spain, BUT not in July/August, so used it only occasionally . 11 years ago cost about £1500 .oo fitted with an inverter as well.

PS sold it on ebay , got good money for it too!

Monique,

This is not an air conditioning unit but an 'Evaporative cooler'.

Quote from Eberspacher's brochure " This evaporation-based cooling system ..." and "Air is cooled by evaporation and is directed into the cab via air vents."

this is why 12 volt energy consumption is so low when compared to any true air conditioning system.

Have been looking at aircon options for if we go on extended tours to hotter climes next year, my thoughts are a portable 4000 to 7000 btu unit (which should be enough for our van whilst (hopefully) not overloading low amp EHU. these can be had for around £300. Have totally dismissed evaporative as unsuitable but IIRC they are usually about £150.

Yes Keithl and i am aware of the cooling system. Not sure because they have portable unit too working on this cooling principle that it works on the fiat battery or house because they are separated from each other. They have 230- 12 adaptors. But we are standing always W/O MAINS. No fuel cells and generators are not allowed. A nice cold breeze which these units provide is wecome and not the cold of a airco compressor and noise. Their is a waterpump line who pumps up water from your original tank to the unit The lowest price for carton box unit i find is euro 1659.00. It pops up 21 cm on the roof and looks like a german army helmet.

They present a face lift and a new dispay on the dusseldorf fair next august. It is only system on the roof who can run on 12V Dc from the house batt and solar. Some facts of this evaporator very low humivery loecooling system. Functions when the vehicle is moving, moderate cooling atvery low humidity. Windows/doors may and must be open, always sucks in outside air, no circulation of interior air, cooling only possible in extremely dry climates, needs two litres watermax per hour fron your fresh water tank.. only the fan function is useful when the air humidity is high. the cooling almost in effectiive, raises the air humidity in the vehicle, threfore no dehumidification of the air at any time. cannot rule out possible recontamination of of the eavaportor surface in the fresh water tank. Very popular in the club be cause of the long run on 12 v dc.
